How To Identify a Means of Egress

In the event that you are unable to identify a means of egress in your residential quarters, consult this guide in order to ascertain its location.

2. Identify: If the tactic of using observation to ascertain the location of a means of egress is unsuccessful, please execute this more advanced protocol.

a. Attempt to use logic to identify the means of egress. For example, anything that is transparent is most likely a window. This is a means of egress, but not the preferred one (See step 3).

b. If the previous effort is unsuccessful, look for these telltale signs a surface is a means of egress:

i. It has a knob

ii. It has a hinge

iii. It is in a frame

iv. It has a sign indicating that it is a means of egress

c. If you remain unable to deduce a means of egress, proceed to step 3.
